The Workshop at Tavistock, Devon

I have been in the trade for over thirty years and at 52 still learning!  - no one can ever know everything there is to know in this line of work - it's a vast area. I work mainly on Triumph, BSA and Norton (Tribsa's and Tritons also included) but also British four strokes in general.  The supply of spares is a large part of my business, as is also the day to day servicing maintenance and repair of my customers machines.  I do a lot of engine and gearbox rebuilding - in fact anything needed to keep these wonderful machines on the road,  in peoples collections and out of the breakers hands.  Working on these machines every day for the last 30 years has given me a lot of knowledge that some other purely spares dealers may or may not have.  In the workshop I only fit tried and tested quality spares and so am better able to  advise which part is most suitable for your project.

and after restoration

Restoration work is sometimes undertaken, and when I do my attention to detail is impecable, and I draw from my knowledge, experience and deep rooted affection for all classic British motorcycles.  As I work, be it restoration, engine ovehaul or just replacing a kickstart spring, I keep the customer informed of what is needed and why, also, how much it is likely to cost. A written record is kept and photos are often taken for customer reference, of damaged parts or at different stages of repair.
My main area of experience is four stroke machines from the 1950's to the 1980's, though recent acquisition of a much longed for 1939 Tiger 100 has sparked an extension to my range.  The Tiger is in oily rag condition  and will remain that way, being maintained but not restored in this case,  I prefer to preserve the machine with all the signs of its history, and anyway it looks great and runs well as it is. I believe that classics should be ridden if possible - this one is in almost daily use.
My other mode of transport is a T140E 1979 a Tiger 800 Adventurer and a Hinckley Rocket 3, both of which I use for longer journeys and trips abroad.  I support the British motorcycle industry wholeheartedly and riding these bikes makes me optimistic of it's future.  Though I do appreciate the performance of the modern machines I equally enjoy the different experience of riding our old bikes.
